Tornado has been detected by weather radar
Tornado Watch: Be Prepared!
A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop in and around the specified area. During a watch, you should review your emergency plans, check your supplies, and ensure your safe room is ready. Stay alert and be prepared to act quickly if a warning is issued or if you notice signs of an approaching tornado. Tornado Watches are issued by the Storm Prediction Center and typically cover a large area, including multiple counties or even states.
Tornado Warning: Take Action!
A Tornado Warning means a tornado has been spotted or detected by weather radar. This indicates imminent danger to life and property. If a warning is issued for your area, move immediately to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Stay away from windows. If you are in a mobile home, vehicle, or outdoors, seek shelter in the nearest substantial building and protect yourself from flying debris. Tornado Warnings are issued by local forecast offices and usually cover a smaller area, such as a city or small county, where the tornado threat is confirmed.
Tornado Emergency: Seek Shelter Immediately!
A Tornado Emergency is the most severe alert issued by the National Weather Service. It is declared when a confirmed, violent tornado is posing a severe threat to human life and is expected to cause catastrophic damage. If a Tornado Emergency is issued, seek shelter in the safest location possible immediately. Contact friends and family in the affected area to ensure they are aware of the danger. Do not attempt to outrun a tornado in a vehicle; instead, shelter in place. After taking shelter, stay tuned to local weather updates for further instructions.
